Yes! While we are a sorority originally founded as women in STEM, we welcome people of all majors; our different majors makes us stronger! We have people studying a wide range of topics, from engineering to art!
Fun fact: one of our founders graduated as an English major!
Yes! We have many sisters who joined as juniors and seniors-- and they are all amazing!
Our first three general events will be based around getting to know your fellow PNMs, active sisters, and A.O.E. as a whole! There will be a variety of fun activities, games, and food to help break the ice!
There are three general events during our Recruitment week, aimed at getting to know potential new members. Potential new members are not required to attend all events, but are suggested to attend at least two to receive an invite to our Invite-Only events after the first part of our recruitment period ends. If you are interested in joining but cannot attend multiple events, please contact us!
There are no dues for PNMs during the initial recruitment process, However, if a PNM receives a bid to join A.O.E., they will be subject to a fee. Active sisters have dues every semester. We offer scholarships to help members if needed!
As much or as little as you'd like!
While participating in events and hanging out with sisters is a great time, we're definitely aware that some people may have very busy semesters. While there are some required events to attend (such as weekly chapter meetings) in order to be an active sister, the overall time commitment is up to you!
As a sorority, we firmly believe in treating everyone as equals. Our policy on bullying, harassment, hazing, and other such behaviors is as follows:
"The Sorority will not tolerate or condone any form of abusive behavior on the part of its members, whether physical, mental, or emotional. This includes any actions that are demeaning to women or men..." —Omicron Chapter Bylaws
One of our invite-only events does have a business-casual dress code, but for all other recruitment events, you can wear whatever you feel most comfortable in!
